Fabric + Care Information

Lingerie

Lingerie may be made to support you, but it still needs a little support of its own. Handwash in cool water with a gentle detergent to keep delicate fabrics, lace, and elastics at their best. If life’s too busy for handwashing every time, you can use your machine’s delicate cycle — just pop your pieces into a lingerie bag, use cold water, and skip the tumble dryer. This extra care keeps your favourites looking lovely and feeling fabulous for longer.

Silk

Silk is a natural fibre with a luxurious feel — but it’s also delicate and needs a gentle touch. We recommend handwashing in cool water using a specialist detergent like our Silk Savvy Laundry Liquid, which is formulated to protect silk’s natural proteins. Avoid bleach, harsh detergents, and soaking, as they can weaken the fibres and dull the lustre. With the right care, your silk will keep its softness, drape, and beauty for years to come.

Swimwear

Swimwear works hard in sun, salt, chlorine, and sunscreen — all of which can be tough on fabrics. Handwash in cool water as soon as possible after use, and avoid wringing or twisting to protect the shape. Dry flat in the shade to preserve colour and elasticity. For a deeper clean, use our Swim Savvy Laundry Liquid, designed to remove chlorine, oils, and sunscreen while helping to prevent bacteria, mould, and fungus. With this care, your swimwear will stay fresh, bright, and ready for many more days of sunshine.

Cotton + Modal

Your cotton, modal, or natural fabrics are made to feel soft, breathable, and effortlessly comfortable – the kind of pieces you’ll reach for night after night. To keep them in perfect condition, we recommend hand washing in cool to warm water with a gentle detergent.

If you prefer to machine wash, use a cool, delicate cycle, a mesh laundry bag, and wash with similar colours to prevent pilling or fading. Avoid bleach or harsh detergents. Dry flat or on a line in the shade to keep them fresh, and avoid tumble drying for longevity. With the right care, these natural fabrics will stay luxuriously soft and looking lovely for years to come.

Wool + Cashmere

Wool and cashmere are nature’s own little luxuries – soft, warm, and beautifully breathable. They deserve gentle handling to keep them cosy and gorgeous season after season. Always hand wash in cool water with a detergent specially formulated for wool (ordinary detergents can strip their natural oils and cause felting). Gently press, don’t wring, to remove excess water, then reshape and dry flat away from heat or direct sunlight.

Store folded rather than hung to avoid stretching, and consider using cedar balls or lavender sachets to deter moths. A little extra care means your wool and cashmere pieces will reward you with warmth, comfort, and style for many winters to come.

Polyester + Synthetic

Some clothes are made to be divas; polyester isn’t one of them. Polyester and cotton–polyester blends are wonderfully low-maintenance, making them perfect for those who need hard-wearing, easy-care fabrics that still look great. They handle frequent washes and even industrial machines far better than delicate fibres, so they’re ideal if you’re after longevity and minimal fuss.

To keep them in top shape, wash in cool to warm water with a gentle detergent, then line or tumble dry on a low heat. With just a little care, these pieces will keep working as hard as you do.

Shipping + Delivery + Taxes

Shipping

We process your order fast and offer same day dispatch if you order before 2pm AEST Monday to Saturday (excluding public holidays). Orders being dispatched from more than one store may take 1-3 business days to collate prior to dispatch.

Within Australia, standard shipping is free for orders $150 or more and express shipping is a flat $15 fee.

Outside Australia standard shipping is a fixed $25 AUD fee and exclusive of duties and taxes that may apply in your country.

Tracking + Delivery

Once dispatched, you'll receive a tracking number to monitor your order's journey with Australia Post.

Within Australia: standard shipping takes 2 - 7 business days and express Post takes 1 - 4 business days.

Outside Australia standard shipping 6 - 25 business days. All timeframes are indicative and customers should allow additional time during peak sales periods.

Duties + Taxes

International customers are responsible for sales tax, duty, and customs charges. These fees are not included in shipping costs and differ by country. For any questions on taxes and fees, consult your local customs office. Reach out to us if you require country of manufacture information for your duty and tax calculations.

Returns + Exchange

Eligible Return Items

You can return any item that is not "ineligible" in accordance with our policy, provided that it is unwashed, unworn and purchased in the last 30 days. You can always return an item that is faulty or dispatched in error by us.

Items Ineligible for Return

For hygiene reasons, we are unable to accept the return of briefs, shapewear, bodysuits and hosiery items unless faulty. Additionally we do not accept returns of Gift Cards or any Final Clearance Item from our Outlet.

Return Postage

The postage costs for any returned item is at the customer's expense unless the item is faulty. We recommend tracking as we are not responsible for any item lost in transit.

Return Options

Eligible items can be returned for a refund or exchange if purchased online. Items purchased in store, can be returned for exchange or store credit only if the item is eligible for return.

Faulty Items

We will refund, replace or repair faulty items. If you have received a faulty or incorrect item, please contact us at contact@thefoundation.com.au. Please include any photos of the tags or faults so we can assist you prior to arranging the return. Any refunds will be processed to the original payment method only.

Return Process

We will process your return within 3-10 business days of receiving the item. Exchanges may require additional time of up to 10 business days. We will advise you if the delay will exceed this estimate.
